Mounting

There are a couple options when it comes to mounting your sign!

Raceway: Raceway mounting means that the sign is mounting onto the exterior wall using a rectangular mounting device. This mounting device contains all the necessary electrical components to illuminate your sign.
Direct: Direct, or Flush mounting is a popular option for illuminated channel letter signs, and often looks more elegant than raceway. In direct mounting, the sign is installed right onto the exterior wall of the building, and illuminated via a power source inside the building.

There are benefits to either method. Direct mounting looks better than Raceway, but it is a lengthier process that involves more holes being drilled in the exterior wall.

Types of Illumination

Like mounting, there are two options when it comes to illuminating your sign:

Neon: Neon is commonly used to illuminate signs, and has been around for a long time! It is certainly bright, and very reliable.
LED: LED lighting is more energy-efficient, generally cheaper, and easier to maintain than neon lights. They are bright, and easy to spot from a distance. Another benefit of LED lighting is the fact that, once installed, you can change the message as often as you like!

Although neon has a certain distinct look to it, LED lighting is a better choice when it comes to environmental, and financial conservation.

When it comes to illuminating channel letters, there are two options:

Front-lit: Front-lit signs are illuminated through their face (usually made of acrylic or polycarbonate material).
Reverse Channel Letter: Reverse lit signs are backlighted, resulting in a halo effect around the letters.

Are Backlit Channel Letters Energy-Efficient?

Backlit channel letters, including all types from New Style Signs, are highly energy-efficient and built to last for an extended period without requiring the replacement of individual light sources or control electronics. LED lighting is used extensively, delivering superior efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional lighting sources such as fluorescent, halogen, or incandescent lights. LEDs offer greater brightness per watt, and commercial-grade LEDs can provide up to 50,000 hours of illumination before requiring replacement.

How do you display a logo with channel letters?

When a logo is an integral part of a corporate identity, we create a lightbox cabinet in the shape of the logo or symbol. This combination of channel letters and a cabinet sign is a common approach to display logos effectively.

Is power required for Illuminated channel letter signs to operate?

Yes, Illuminated channel letter signs rely on a power source to illuminate the LED lighting within the letters or shapes. These signs typically use low-voltage LED lights, often around 12 volts, which require power to function. To provide power, a transformer is used to convert the electrical current to the appropriate voltage for the LEDs. During installation, the sign is connected to a power source, which can be an existing electrical supply or a new one installed specifically for the sign. This power source ensures that the channel letter sign is well-lit and visible, effectively serving its branding and customer attraction purposes.

  Hi! I am just a house owner, not a corporation, and wanted the house number to be more visible from the road as the current one supplied by the builder is too small.  I called up a few sign suppliers in the area, but only New Style Signs (located at 6635 Kitimat Road, Unit 35 Mississauga, Ontario) responded.  Apparently, others didn't want to bother with such a small order.  A very nice gentlemen, Adam Naiman, quickly helped with coming up with the best design and size of the number.  Thank you, Adam, for being so responsive and professional!  Just got the number today (2020-08-27), and these four 10"-tall black-aluminum digits look so amazing - slick!  The number is so outstandingly elegant (see the picture with the numbers placed on the carpet so far).  I cannot wait to attach it to the house.
